Respect and Tradition

At Shunk Gulley, we are deeply committed to upholding traditions that connect us to our nation's history and our local community. This week, we have lowered our flag to half-mast in honor of President Jimmy Carter, whose lifetime of service and humanitarian work has left an indelible mark on our country. His leadership in promoting peace, human rights, and compassion serves as a guiding light for us all.

Flying our flag at half-mast also symbolizes our respect and remembrance for all individuals who have made sacrifices in service to our nation and community. Whether honoring military heroes or local citizens who have demonstrated selflessness, we take this moment to express our deepest gratitude.

Our respect for the flag extends beyond its display. At Shunk Gulley, we are dedicated to the proper retirement of our nation's symbol. We utilize U.S. flag drop boxes, which are designed to collect worn-out flags for respectful disposal. These drop boxes ensure that flags are retired with the honor they deserve, following the traditions and ceremonies outlined in the United States Flag Code.

We invite you to join us in honoring these values. Whether you visit us for a meal or take a moment to reflect alongside us, let's work together to preserve the traditions that define us and support causes that build a brighter future.

From all of us at Shunk Gulley, thank you for helping us honor the past while building a better tomorrow.

A fishermen's landmark, the restaurant has become a destination for locals and visitors to gather since it opened in November 2017.
